Moving reclaimed lumber

Moving reclaimed lumber

This trip to work on my small house in the woods seems a little different from the others. I haven’t gotten that much done, maybe because everything is all over the place on this trip. There’s so much to do! It’s been a little difficult to get on track.

Today I’m at my brother’s place, And I need to take care of some lumber I removed the nails from some time ago. After removing the nails I covered it with a tarp, But that tarp deteriorated over time and the lumber was exposed to the elements. I needed to change the location because I didn’t want to have it continuously exposed and getting wet. On one of my trips back here, I moved the number to one of the hoop houses or greenhouses for folk who don’t know what hoop houses are.

It was staying dry and out of the weather but it had been a little while and the plastic on the hoop house was being deteriorated by the sun. I took this number out and made a place in the barn, along with the other lumber I stored there a long time ago, which has stayed dry because it’s protected from the rain.

The lumber I just moved was a little wet because the last few days it rained all day and I’m sure it’s been rained on before. Some of it looked like it may have a bit of termite damage. I cut away all termite activity I could. Because this reclaiimed lumber will be used to frame two other places in the woods near my small house is why I’m going to great lengths to keep it in good shape, and that was major because if I hadn’t taken care of it, it, more than likely it would’ve deteriorated in the rain or rotted away. That little job was a good thing, and it’s helped to make me feel as if I’ve accomplished a few things. I’ll talk about more later.
