The wall

The wall

I feel the wall getting closer, and I can see it as it approaches. It’s so close I can see nothing else. The wall that I’m speaking of is the wall of exhaustion, and when that happens, that’s all she wrote. There’s no going through it, no going around it, or over it. I’ll have to stop right in front of it because the only other alternative is to run right smack into it, and that’s not something I’m willing to experience. At my age now, it takes longer to get back than it did as a younger man.

As it inches closer and closer I’m down shifting, trying to get my head wrapped around the fact that confrontation with the wall is bound to happen, or rather, I’m bound to run into it at some point if I continue at the pace I’m on now.

When that happens, I gotta stop, get my head together, and act accordingly so I can be okay with it, and once it’s time to go on, I’ll be able to do so.

I think a few days of rest will do the trick since I’ve  been going at it (working on the house) at a pretty good pace since I’ve been here. I sometimes have to remind myself that I’m no longer 20, 30, 40, or even 50!

I’m not necessarily in a hurry, but I only have so many days to be here and I want to get as much work in as possible, especially since I’m quite a few miles away from the house  I’m working on.

It’s time for a much needed rest!
