It’s always interesting seeing fields of cotton almost as far as the eye can see, ready to be harvested when I visit Alabama in November. During my latest visit to Alabama, I saw numerous fields of cotton being harvested with combines that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. (I’m often reminded of the times those fields were picked clean with human hands). I was told the past couple of storms knocked over a lot of cotton still on the stalks, which meant it could not be harvested by the combine. People no longer pick cotton so that meant there was a lot of cotton left on the ground, which in turn meant a lot less money was made this season.
Cotton is still King
