“When asked about the effect their successful marriage had on their children, Ken replied, “Our children had security in our marriage. We didn’t have that since Sharon and I grew up in a one-parent household. They knew that we were there. They have a certain confidence that other kids didn’t have because they knew they had their mother and father at home. We knew what it was like not to have both parents in the home. Sharon and I talked about the kind of parents we planned to be before we had kids.”
